ERMENEGILDO ZEGNA REBRANDS AS ZEGNA

BY MICHELLE DALTON TYREE

The luxury menswear brand unveils a new logo and collection

Ermenegildo Zegna, founder of the luxe Italian menswear line that is a wardobe staple for the world’s most discerning men, made his name by boldly taking the road less traveled — quite literally. Over 110 years ago, he built road SP232 (also known as Panoramica Zegna) in an area of the Piedmont mountain region of Northern Italy, which was no more than barren rocks at the time. But it was there that Zegna laid the foundation for his textile manufacturing business, and what was to become one of the most enduring luxury menswear labels.

He famously built a community around his wool mill, and in the ‘90s created the Oasi Zegna park, which even includes a small ski resort. It’s a sprawling, lush oasis of over 38 square miles on what was once a seemingly lifeless mountainside. And it was here that he built his brand around ethical entrepreneurship and an ethos of giving back.

But this holiday season heralds yet a new path for Zegna, as the brand doubles down on its Piedmont region roots by unveiling a new, more contemporary logo along with the launch of a new collection dedicated to the outdoors and winter sports.

The new, vicuna-colored graphic now features Zegna. The logo harkens to the road the company’s founder carved both physically and philosophically through the use of varying lines represented by the brand but its bold, contemporary font is an indication of the eye the company has towards the future.

Our history, our values, our intention are now stitched into the very fabric that bears our name. As Zegna enters an exciting new chapter in our history, we continue along the same road that stretches back more than a century. Together, our road leads us to frontiers in fabric innovation, in corporate leadership and style of life.

ZEGNA OUTDOOR CAPSULE COLLECTION

Zegna’s new emblem debuts in the capsule collection designed and made in collaboration with athletic wear and outdoor gear specialists La Sportiva, Zai, KASK and SIGG, with the goal of expanding the concept of luxury leisurewear to include the essentials for an active lifestyle outside.

In the first installment, the capsule is a modular system that encompasses a complete wardrobe for outdoor winter living, including ski suits and puffers in TechmerinoTM, technical jumpers, trousers and underpinnings, caps and helmets but also skis and water bottles. Stressing Zegna’s commitment to responsibility, the collection features natural and sustainable fabrics.

LA SPORTIVA

Zegna and outdoor gear specialist La Sportiva have developed extremely breathable Air-mesh uppers, the running and mountaineering shoes for endurance trails and all types of off-road trails.

KASK

With helmet company KASK, Zegna has designed a new customized version of the iconic Piuma-R ski helmet for snow sports enthusiasts who are looking for safety without compromising on aesthetic.

ZAI

The collab with Zai features an elegant and robust performance ski with excellent turning properties.

SIGG

Every outdoor sportsman needs hydration, so Zegna partnered with SIGG to redesign the original drinking bottle in a black aluminum version customized with the vicuña-colored signifier.

“Our history, our values, our intention are now stitched into the very fabric that bears our name,  according to a company statement. “As Zegna enters an exciting new chapter in our history, we continue along the same road that stretches back more than a century,” “Together, our road leads us to frontiers in fabric innovation, in corporate leadership and style of life. We believe that being catalysts for change and champions of a brighter future together is a path worth taking.”

Knife Pleat Named Among the 101 Best Restaurants in LA https://www.southcoastplaza.com/stories/2021/12/knife-pleat-named-among-the-101-best-restaurants-in-la/ Fri, 10 Dec 2021 21:47:11 +0000 https://www.southcoastplaza.com/?p=66698

KNIFE PLEAT NAMED AMONG THE 101 BEST RESTAURANTS IN LA

The restaurant debuts in the Los Angeles Times’ Annual List

Less than three months after earning its first Michelin Star, Knife Pleat has received another significant accolade. We’re thrilled that our elegant French restaurant in the Penthouse has been named one of the Los Angeles Times’ “101 Best Restaurants in LA” this year.

“An opulent outfit appropriately housed in the haute couture wing of Costa Mesa’s South Coast Plaza, Knife Pleat continues where chef Tony Esnault and his wife, Yassmin Sarmadi, left off with their now-closed French restaurant Spring in downtown Los Angeles,” wrote Times critic Bill Addison. “Esnault was previously the chef at Patina, and he spent years cooking with Alain Ducasse. Which is to say: He performs a rigorous, meticulous form of fine dining that’s nearly extinct in America. Regard his escargot, with its perfectly diced tomato concassé and refined swirls of persillade, and taste its detailed interplays of garlic and herbs and acid, and you’ll understand why this approach to cuisine had a heyday.”

Esnault’s sublime tasting and special menu dinners, which have developed a following, showcase his versatility and virtuosity, whether he’s juxtaposing California’s seasonal produce against decadent ingredients such as white truffle, or exploring a theme such as seafood, or paying homage to the cuisine of a culture. Addison, for example, singled out “an unforgettable dinner at Knife Pleat celebrating Nowruz, the Persian New Year.”

“The kuku sabzi (its closest Western equivalent is a frittata, but it’s in a category of egg dishes all its own) was dense with herbs but nearly as light as mousse,” he wrote. “It preceded braised lamb shank over pilaf sweetened with dates and raisins. Sarmadi’s mother oversaw the meal, as she did when the couple hosted the feast at Spring. I can’t help hoping, though, that the glories of Iranian cuisine might occasionally carry over to the regular menu as well? A guy can dream.”

BILL ADDISON, LOS ANGELES TIMES

Knife Pleat is the only French restaurant in all of Orange County to be included in the prestigious Los Angeles Times selection. “We are honored to have Knife Pleat featured on the list, which was started by our dear friend Jonathan Gold,” Esnault and Sarmadi said. “A special thank you to Bill Addison for the kind words and Maria Tauger for the photography.”

Hope Shines at the Candlelight Concert https://www.southcoastplaza.com/stories/2021/12/hope-shines-at-the-candlelight-concert/ Thu, 02 Dec 2021 11:12:50 +0000 https://www.southcoastplaza.com/?p=65977

HOPE SHINES AT THE CANDLELIGHT CONCERT

Andrea Bocelli delivers a memorable performance at the fundraising gala

The spotlight shone brilliantly, a welcome sight to the hundreds who sat in the audience as the world-famous Andrea Bocelli took to Segerstrom Hall stage for the Candlelight Concert on Nov. 30. It was a special evening that brought together again numerous philanthropic individuals, families and companies – including South Coast Plaza – to raise funds for Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Led by honorary chair Elizabeth Segerstrom, co-managing partner at South Coast Plaza, and co-chairs Carol Perry and Britt Meyer, the event provided critical funds to benefit the center’s artistic programming and education initiatives as well as new endeavors such as ballet commissions, productions, and world premieres.

Britt Meyer, Elizabeth Segerstrom and Carol Perry

”This year’s 47th Candlelight concert marks the beginning of a new, exciting chapter for us all here at Segerstrom Center for the Arts,” Segerstrom said. “We’ve all grown exponentially in this past year, inspiring us to set the bar even higher for all that’s to come! Segerstrom Center for the Arts has always strived to bring the best of the best, both nationally and internationally, to our audiences here in Southern California – but now ‘coming together’ has an all-new meaning, and in such, we are working to ensure the year ahead marks a time for wonderful innovation and revolution in our programming.”

The gala began with a 13-song performance by Bocelli that included memorable duets with singer Pia Toscano and opera sensation Maria Aleida. The sweetest duet, no doubt, was a rendition of “Hallulejah” with Bocelli’s nine-year old daughter, Virginia Bocelli, during which Bocelli provided accompaniment with an acoustic guitar. He later gifted the instrument to the center to auction off.

Following the performance was the dramatic unveiling of the opulent dining hall, the immersive design of which was inspired by an Italian palazzo, surrounded on three sides by arched windows that simulated the effect of looking out at a verdant landscape. Chef Ross Pangilinan of South Coast Plaza’s Terrace by Mix Mix created a menu with a nod to Italy, while Chef Tony Esnault and Pastry Chef Germain Biotteau of Knife Pleat, also at South Coast Plaza, presented the holiday season-inspired dessert.

Candlelight remains the performing arts center’s top philanthropic event. Its return to Segerstrom Hall was especially poignant, symbolizing resilience and optimism in the aftermath of the pandemic.

VISIT OUR TRIO OF GIANT CHRISTMAS TREES

Yes, we have not one but three trees to enjoy, each unique and beautifully decorated

It’s warm, brilliant and gorgeous in all 96 feet of its majestic height. Our giant outdoor Christmas tree, along with its two other towering siblings indoors, are ready to evoke wonder and get everyone in a holiday mood. Our fir in Town Center Park was unveiled Nov. 18 during the 40th anniversary of our Tree Lighting, a complimentary annual event featuring a musical show and a countdown to the tree’s illumination presented by the Segerstrom Family, owners of South Coast Plaza.

South Coast Plaza is the only shopping center in all of California with a trio of magnificent giant Christmas trees – one located outside and the other two inside, in Jewel Court and the Crate and Barrel/Macy’s Home Store wing. Each tree is unique and beautifully decorated with a theme, making all of them popular sites for our guests’ selfies and photos with family and friends throughout the holiday season.

Our fabulous tree trio up close:

The Tree at Town Center Park

Our outdoor tree from Shasta County in Northern California comes alive at dusk and is purposely decorated entirely with more than 94,000 colorful lights and a radiant star, giving it picturesque brilliance. It’s bright enough to be visible like a welcome beacon to passengers on planes descending westward toward John Wayne Airport on clear fall evenings. Located in the middle of Town Center Park, the tree can be reached by crossing Unity Bridge next to Claim Jumper in the Din Tai Fung wing.

The Segerstrom Family’s Annual Tree Lighting Celebration

The tree was unveiled in spectacular fashion at the end of a special show produced by one of South Coast Plaza’s longtime arts partners, the Orange County School of the Arts and hosted this year by Broadway and TV star Matthew Morrison, an OCSA alumnus. Morrison performed two songs, even accompanying himself on the ukulele while singing the charming classic Hawaiian Christmas Song, Mele Kalikimaka.

The high school student dancers, singers and musicians of OCSA’s performing arts troupe Montage delivered a high-energy repertoire of holiday classic favorites, including Winter Wonderland and Let it Snow (and “snow” did fall), and contemporary songs such as Hot Chocolate from the 2004 animated film Polar Express.

Always delighting little children when he makes a surprise visit every year, Santa arrived in time to lead the countdown to the illumination of the tree – the finale of the evening. Visit the tree beginning just before sunset for the best photos.

MOMENTS FROM THE 2021 TREE LIGHTING SHOW

The Great Tree in the Crate and Barrel/Macy’s Home Store Wing

This colorful tree filled with carved figures stands three stories tall and has a distinct Santa theme with numerous delightful details children will love. Two giant Santa figures dramatically rise 15 feet tall from a Victorian miniature village on a mountain nestled in the tree’s roots. At regular intervals, two vintage steam engine trains pass through and around 12 small Victorian houses. The giant tree also features 13 carved smaller trees adorned with 700 ornaments, while the canopy is decorated with more than 7,000 LED lights.

Here’s a fun family activity: View the tree from levels 2 and 3 and see if you can figure out who’s who among the 14 figures in the big canopy: Pere Noel, Thomas Nast Santa, Dun Che Lao Ren, Father Christmas, Julnisse, Jultomten, Weihnachtsmann, Christkindl, Ded Moroz, Belsnickel, Baboushka, Pelznickel, Knecht Ruprecht, Santa Claus. Crowning the tree is a gold star supported by a vertical icy swirl and white and blue frosty figures representing winter winds. Keen eyes will spot a wintry snow globe.

The Tree in Jewel Court

Undoubtedly a South Coast Plaza guest favorite and the most photographed among our giant trees year after year, our dazzling tree in Jewel Court is lavishly decorated with giant iridescent finial, round and other vintage-inspired traditional ornaments in red, green, yellow and silver. The polygonal muted gilt base is covered with elegant bas-relief panels featuring toy soldiers inspired by The Nutcracker. The toy soldier theme is especially fitting because South Coast Plaza is a longtime supporter of the American Ballet Theatre’s annual December production of The Nutcracker at Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

Crowning this knockout of a tree is a large gold star topper, but continue to look upward to view the stunning mosaic dome by Los Angeles artist Marion Sampler, encircled for the holiday season by a gleaming ornament-festooned garland from which a radii of twinkling lights emanate. The result is opulent and splendid.

Perfect for Photos: Our Poinsettia Trees

As you walk through South Coast Plaza, stop by our trees made from tiers of red poinsettia plants. Located throughout the center, they’re festive and ideal for photos.

A Holiday Tree Walking Experience

To walk through the South Coast Plaza campus to view all our three trees, we recommend beginning at dusk. Start with the tree at Town Center Park (illuminated just before sunset), followed by the tree in Jewel Court. Take the Bridge of Gardens and end at the Great Tree in the Crate and Barrel/Macy’s Home Store wing. You also can reverse the order.

20 MUST-HAVE LOGO GIFTS FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON

From Balenciaga bags to Jimmy Choo boots, branding is big for the fall/winter and beyond

Chanel

Rarely have designer logos looked more fearless and fun than in the latest collections. Lately, designers are playing with brand symbols in more mischievous and adventurous ways. From graffiti-inspired or graphic statements from Alexander McQueen and Valentino to the “hacks” created by Gucci’s Alessandro Michele and Balenciaga’s Demna Gvasalia, brands are embracing what they always advise their own clients: to have fun with fashion.
Whether you’re looking for something playful and contemporary or classic with a more traditional vibe for gift-giving or self-gifting, view our roundup of the latest logo-inspired looks – one of the top fall 2021 fashion trends that’s continuing into spring 2022:

Valentino

Alexander McQueen

Level 2, Nordstrom Wing
657.205.4477

In July Alexander McQueen debuted a collection that not only puts the name of its founder front and center, but also celebrates his bold, in-your-face spirit. The McQueen Graffiti collection showcases the name in a graffiti style across both ready to wear and accessories, including this Jeweled Satchel in black quilted nappa leather, with a four-ring embellishment that features another icon of the house: the skull.

Balenciaga

Level 2, Between Jewel and Carousel Courts
714.668.0557

Among the most talked-about collaborations of 2021 has been the simple fun that’s emerged from Alessandro Michele and Demna Gvasalia “hacking” of the other’s brand codes. Michele’s “hack lab” has produced sought-after pieces that honor everyone from Dapper Dan to The North Face, but he put that idea on steroids when he employed the codes of Balenciaga in Gucci’s “Aria” collection.

In response, Gvasalia created his own tongue-in-cheek response for Balenciaga’s upcoming spring collection (which arrives at South Coast Plaza in November). Instead of the double-Gs you might expect to see on these pieces, double-Bs are instead included on accessories in these coated-canvas designs with the red and green stripes any Gucci fan knows too well. Indeed, on Balenciaga’s Classic Pouch, you might find yourself doing a double-take – and for the two designers swapping their house’s signature, that’s part of the creative humor.

Moynat

Level 1, Nordstrom Wing
714.708.1310

The Art Deco influence of Moynat’s monogram, designed by painter Henri Rapin in the 1920s, is celebrated in the Wheel BB, a mini-bag that takes its cue from a 1907 case originally conceived to hold a spare tire in a car trunk. The graphic M print, known as the Toile 1920 monogram, has been updated to create a 3D effect on this chic minaudiere in carbon and bronze hues, with small studs adorning the face of the bag. The decorative strap and metal clasp are inspired by the details of the brand’s vintage trunks.

Loewe

Level 1, Nordstrom Wing
714.464.7420

The Anagram, a quadruple-L insignia introduced to Loewe collections by artist Vicente Vela in 1970, underwent an update in recent years, coinciding with the arrival of Creative Director Jonathan Anderson. For fall/winter, this elegant logo is emblazoned on the Small Hammock Bag. Like many Loewe pieces, this multifunctional bag in calfskin and canvas plays with notions of structure, with side panels that can be released to change the bag’s shape. The Spanish-made bag includes top handles, a removable strap and an outside zipper.

Chanel

Level 1, Nordstrom Wing
714.754.7455

For the Chanel cruise collection, creative director Virginie Viard says she was inspired by Jean Cocteau’s 1960 film The Testament of Orpheus, which stars the writer, artist and filmmaker (who also counted Coco Chanel among his closest friends) as an 18th-century poet on a quest for wisdom. While the black-and-white film inspired Viard’s color palette for the collection, she also looked to Cocteau’s illustrations as the jumping-off point for a graphic print employed for ready-to-wear and handbags, featuring Chanel codes that include pearls, chains and, of course, the famed double Cs.

Christian Louboutin

Level 3, Penthouse
714.754.9200

The latest in Christian Louboutin’s hugely popular Cabata tote bag is also among the first to celebrate two of the designer’s logo treatments: his elegantly scripted last name and his equally stylish “CL,” both embellishing a monogram-like print on black calfskin leather. Other signatures on this chic carryall include the spikes that adorn the handles and the flat bottom in Louboutin’s iconic red hue, also emblazoned with his name.

Dolce & Gabbana

Level 2, Saks Fifth Avenue Wing
714.668.9142

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana maintain a deep well of inspirations for their collections, from florals and religious iconography to the beauty of an Italian woman. But for their latest jewelry designs, it’s all about the name. The pair has conceptualized a collection of Logo necklaces, all crafted in 18-karat gold and sometimes adorned with colorless sapphires or pearls. Fold in the trend of bold chains seen on recent runways, and “statement necklace” takes new meaning.

Jimmy Choo

Level 1, Between Jewel and Carousel Courts
714.327.0644

Jimmy Choo adopts a decidedly subtle approach with its JC monogram, seen in embossed black leather on the label’s Kix/Z 65 ankle boots. The allover repeat print is offset with a sharp pointed toe in black patent leather, all on a 65mm heel.

Bally

Level 2, Between Jewel and Carousel Courts
714.557.1914

Bally’s history can be traced back to 1851, when the house got its start as a Swiss shoemaker. The “Bally 1851” logo adorns many of its latest pieces, such as the Logo Stripe Scarf in navy virgin wool. The design also seems to pay tribute to the label’s heritage – particularly the family-run ribbon factory, hence that chicly simple detail above and below the logo (which also happens to be rendered in the colors of the Swiss flag).

Longchamp

Level 2, Between Jewel and Carousel Courts
714.436.1963

Longchamp’s LGP logo has been a huge hit since it debuted in 2019, and for fall, artistic director Sophie Delafontaine has further elevated this graphic, energetic treatment by pairing it with the woven jacquard LGP canvas in taupe and black with a detail of crocodile-embossed calfskin on the all-purpose Roseau top-handle bag. The bamboo clasp, another signature of the house, is rendered in metal.

Marni

Level 1, Between Jewel and Carousel Courts
714.380.3155

Creative director Francesco Risso has created one of the best look-at-me logos of the season with his bicolored take on the brand name for Milan-based house Marni. Among the pieces featuring this treatment is this men’s merino wool sweater for fall, crafted in Italy of 100-percent virgin wool and featuring a boxy fit.

Salvatore Ferragamo

Level 2, Nordstrom Wing
714.979.7654

The Gancini symbol ranks high among the signatures of Salvatore Ferragamo — roughly translated, Gancini means “small hook” and takes its cue from the iron gates of Palazzo Spini Ferroni in Florence, headquarters of the Italian label, as well as the hooks used for attaching a horse’s holsters to its bridle. Ferragamo is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its Gancini symbol with a variety of designs, including the Gancini loafer for fall, crafted in a printed coated canvas in an allover Gancini print and accented with a Gancini ornament in an antique gold finish.

Tod’s

Level 2, Jewel Court
714.556.0239

For ultra-classic styling, Tod’s has emblazoned its traditional men’s PVC rain boot with a leather oval stamped with the Milan-based label’s logo. Available in unisex sizing, other details include the house’s rubber pebble accent on the heel and a lugged rubber outsole.

Valentino

Level 2, Nordstrom Wing
714.751.3300

Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli’s mostly black and white collection for fall, dubbed “Act,” was the ideal palette to show off V-logo treatments. Some were interpreted as harlequin prints on coats and accessories, while a terrific cape evoked thoughts of graduated V shapes, creating a graphic treatment that only implied Valentino branding, yet in wholly dramatic fashion.

Versace

Level 2, Between Jewel and Carousel Courts
714.380.3237

The House of Versace has interpreted the Greek key motif in designs for more than 40 years, and for fall, Donatella Versace has created a geometric take featuring sharp angles and clean lines in a sophisticated color palette. Among the pieces in the La Greca collection is this belted flared jacket in red and black silk jacquard with a splash of bright blue, which can be paired with a matching dress or miniskirt.

More Logo Looks

Furla

Level 2, Bloomingdale’s Wing
714.617.9629

In 2019 Furla introduced its “Arch” logo, so named because its inspiration comes from the arch at the entrance of Fondazione Furla in Bologna, Italy. The brand was founded in 1927, and that decade’s Art Deco influences can be felt in the logo design, which is used in an allover print on Furla’s new collection of “Opportunity” bags, including this shopping-bag style in blue denim jacquard.

Coach

Level 2, Between Jewel and Carousel Courts
714.979.1771

Stuart Vevers has done a masterful job at Coach since taking the reins as creative director in 2013, balancing edgy, youthful collaborations with a sincere respect for the more traditional silhouettes and signatures that over the years have spawned such a dedicated fanbase. The Rogue 25 top-handle bag from the Coach Forever Collection is a perfect example, blending a two-tone glove-tanned leather and suede treatment with the label’s signature double-C textile jacquard.

Maje

Level 2, Bloomingdale’s Wing
714.557.2842

Founder Judith Milgrom named Maje using the initials of the first names of her loved ones, while her M for Maje logo is a creative take that puts the M monogram on center stage in a graphic treatment. That’s especially true of this mid-length dress with an allover logo print, featuring a wrapped V-neckline, asymmetric scarf-style skirt and smocked waist.

Tory Burch

Level 1, Carousel Court
714.689.0450

Bucket bags are trending, and Tory Burch’s take on the classic highlights the designer’s T monogram, a pattern inspired by traditional Pennsylvania Dutch quilting. The woven jacquard is paired with hazelnut-hued leather and brass-finish hardware, while a removable strap allows the bag to be worn crossbody style.

Ganni

Level 1, Bloomingdale’s Wing
949.612.9300

The Copenhagen-based Ganni is only 21 years old, but you’d never know it from the 20th-century references and the frenzy among clients for new pieces. That includes this Checkerboard Knit Logo Vest for fall, crafted in cotton rope knit and finished with a woven graphic Ganni logo and a trio of faux-leather buttons on one shoulder. Followers of cult brand Ganni, can announce their fandom in unabashed fashion.

THE NEW IT BAGS

Three Top Fall Trends: Chain Links, Fuzzy and Saddle Style

Fendi

Handbags are, quite simply, seductive this season, as designers explore ideas of glamour, texture and vintage appeal. To inspire your accessories strategy, here’s our spotlight on three of the season’s hottest handbag trends.

CHAIN LINKS • FUZZY • SADDLE STYLE

CHAIN REACTION

Bold chains can be found on many of the season’s most coveted bags, a detail that immediately makes a statement of style and strength. When putting together your look, make this detail the star while keeping other accessories more subtle to ensure a chic balance.

Chloé

Level 2, Between Jewel and Carousel Courts
714.481.0308

Juana is the latest collection of bags from Chloé that feature bold chains as the dominant detail. That’s especially true of the Juana Mini Bag, seen here in burgundy leather, with its gold metallic links the focus of this statement accessory.

Longchamp

Level 2, Between Jewel and Carousel Courts
714.436.1963

Change up your chain strategy for fall with Longchamp’s Roseau Top Handle Bag XS, which features an oversized chain shoulder strap crafted from acetate. The iconic bamboo clasp on this mini bag in cowhide also plays with proportions with its generous sizing, creating a look that’s equal parts classic and forward-thinking.

Prada

Level 2, Jewel Court
714.338.2200

Miuccia Prada blends the padded trend that’s become so popular in statement bags with this season’s must-have chain detail to create an instant icon. Also take note of the triangle-shaped quilting, which is designed to subtly evoke the Prada logo — and for those moments when you’re in the mood for a clutch, the gold statement chain is removable.

Stella McCartney

Level 2,Between Jewel and Carousel Courts
714.338.2200

A substantial gold chain instantly modernizes the ladylike structure of Stella McCartney’s Small Chunky Chain Bag in cream-hued faux leather, key to McCartney’s cruelty-free philosophy in her designs. Featuring a logo-embellished clutch closure, this Italian-made bag is a perfect pairing with ultra-feminine or sleek looks.

Valentino

Level 2, Nordstrom Wing
714.751.3300

Rockstud continues to rank high among sought-after details that instantly communicate luxury. For fall Valentino has combined its Rockstud signature with a bold use of its VLogo to create the Stud Sign Grainy Calfskin Shoulder Bag. Equally perfect with a sleek sheath dress or a crisp white shirt with jeans, maxi studs adorn the 13.8-inch chain drop in antique brass-finish metal, which matches the VLogo on the bag’s magnetic closure. Inside, one more surprise awaits – Valentino’s signature red nappa lining.

PLUSH & POSH

Perhaps no handbag trend is more alluring than the shearling and faux-fur bags that are everywhere this fall. These are bags you simply long to touch and feel, and many designers embellished them with coveted logo details. Pair your fuzzy bag with jeans or a tailored suit for an instant style update.

Max Mara

Level 1, Jewel Court
714.754.7900

Fans of Max Mara’s hugely popular Teddy coat will love that it’s been interpreted in the label’s Marine M top-handle bag for winter. Crafted in Italy, this plush carryall tote is exclusively offered in a beautifully neutral camel-toned wool, accented with the brand’s signature initial treatment.

Jimmy Choo

The Soft Madeline Mini Bag pairs beautifully with solid tones and prints alike and features a 20.5-in. silver chain strap and the label’s signature crystal-embellished buckle.

Tod’s

Level 2, Jewel Court
714.556.0239

Refined merino sheepskin is used to create the soft yet structured texture on Tod’s Mini Shopping Bag in shearling. The double handles in shearling make this a supremely comfortable bag to carry on the arm, while a leather strap is also included to wear on the shoulder or crossbody style. The oval Tod’s logo adorns the front, while an oval-shaped pouch is tucked inside.

Saint Laurent

Level 2, Between Jewel and Carousel Courts
714.429.0101

The softest lambskin shearling is used to craft Saint Laurent’s Puffer Small Bag in deep fuchsia, a standout color that’s sure to make a statement with any look. This monogram shoulder bag is adorned with the YSL initials in silver-toned metal, while the 20.5-inch silver chain strap can be doubled for versatility.

Fendi

Level 1, Jewel Court
714.751.1111

Kim Jones quickly put his stamp on Fendi when he signed on as the Italian brand’s new artistic director last year, updating the handbag collection to include his take on the label’s initial: Dubbed Fendi First, the bags combine the relaxed styling of soft merino-wool sheepskin with an oversized metal F clasp wrapped in tone-on-tone beige nappa leather. Carry the bag as a clutch or on the shoulder or as a crossbody with the detachable strap.

BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN

Any girl who grew up in the 1970s will tell you that the saddlebag was the must-have style for every woman from 13 to 83. The trend’s return has been met with nothing less than delight by those who carried the bags as young girls, and now can explore the variety of modern updates as powerful, confident women. Where the bags hung down from the shoulder back then, today, women wear them crossbody-style. Seek out the sleek designs to wear for more polished moments and look to the more casual saddlebags to pair with denim or boho-chic dresses.

Loewe

Level 1, Nordstrom Wing
714.464.7420

The iconic saddle-stitched knotted leather strap is the perfect adornment on Loewe’s Mini Gate Dual bag. Seen here in black calfskin, the bag gets its name from the metal pin that latches on its side, while the removable strap in calfskin and jacquard allows the bag to be worn as a shoulder or crossbody bag or as a sleek belt bag.

Isabel Marant

Level 1, Between Jewel and Carousel Courts
714.708.2690

Fans of Isabel Marant are sure to love her interpretation of a saddlebag, dubbed the Botsy. This crossbody bag is crafted in burgundy-toned leather and features an adjustable strap, while its chicly simple styling is a perfect pairing with the easy French sensibility for which the brand is known.

Dior

Details include a suede interior, removable strap that can be worn on the shoulder or as a crossbody bag, a decorative CD monogram, and an embossed “30 Montaigne” peeking out from the bag’s back pocket.

714.617.9629

Furla’s saddlebag hits all the right notes, including color, in this case a coveted shade of green – Edera  – ivy in English. Crafted from soft Roma calfskin, this Italian-made bag features a decorative buckle and a metal twist closure with a Palladium finish on the flap, while its wide strap can be worn on the shoulder or across the body.
